Æsa Sigurjónsdóttir, PhD. Professor in Art History, Art Theory, and Curatorial Studies at the University of Iceland. Her research has been focused on contemporary art, art historiography, the history and theory of photography, visual culture and curatorial studies – and she has written extensively on these subjects. 

As curator, she has curated a number of exhibitions in Icelandic and European festivals, museums and galleries, such as National Museum of Iceland; National Gallery of Iceland; Reykjavík Art Museum; Reykjavík Museum of Photography; Reykjavík Art Festival; Turku Biennial, Finland, Kuntsi Museum of Modern Art, Vaasa, Finland; Bozar Centre for Fine Arts, Brussels; Riga European Capital of Culture; Curated by_ Vienna,Austria; FNAGP, France.
