Ásdís R. Magnúsdóttir studied French language and literature (Lettres modernes) at the Stendhal University (Grenoble 3) from 1988 to 1997 and completed her PhD in French literature of the Middle Ages and Renaissance in 1997.
Her main centres of research are: medieval French literature, translations and reception of French literature in Iceland and Scandinavia. Ásdís R. Magnúsdóttir is also interested in the short story and other forms of shorter writings, translation and history of ideas, and is engaged in projects related to these topics. She works on the translation and publication of a collection of French short stories and tales and an Icelandic translation of Chrétien‘s de Troyes, The Knight of the Chart (Lancelot).
