Here is an interview with Þórunn Elva Bjarkadóttir who wrote an interesting Masters-thesis under my supervision on the media discourse from 2007-2009 concerning Iceland's relations with the EU and how that changed with different economic circumstances in the country. In the end Iceland's application for EU membership was a search for economic shelter.
