Teaching

At the University of Iceland, Ásgeir teaches Finance, Financial Statement Analysis, Accounting Theory and Cash Flow in Banks.

My teaching objectives are to encourage critical thinking for example through the use of multiple theories and models. The goal is not to find a single right answer or simple solutions but rather the effort of the learning should be to understand complex reality better and even with conflicting conclusions.

Improving students ability to critically read different types of data is an important factor in my teaching methods and thereby improving their understanding of institutions and business systems. In this respect analysing the quality of information is crucial learning factor. Thus, it is a key in my teaching to link theoretical discussion to practical and operational issues, for example through business cases and current news articles.
