She has been selected to take part in the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting this summer, a great honor. For more information about this meeting, <a href=\"https:\/\/english.hi.is\/news\/chemistry_students_to_attend_an_event_with_nobel_laureates\">see this news article on the University of Iceland's webpage<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>May 17th, 2022<\/strong><br \/>\nCongratulations to Benjam\u00edn, Hreinn, Sigur\u00f0ur, and S\u00f3lr\u00fan on receiving the <a href=\"https:\/\/english.hi.is\/news\/ui_science_and_innovation_prize_awarded_to_preventing_infection_in_artificial_joints\">Motivational prize in the annual competition for the UI Science and Innovation prizes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>May 16th, 2022<br \/>\n<\/strong>We welcome Gunnhildur Dilj\u00e1 Gunnarsd\u00f3ttir to our group this summer. We look forward to the work this summer!<\/p>\n<p><strong>February 1st, 2022<\/strong><br \/>\nWe are happy to share that Sigur\u00f0ur Gu\u00f0ni Gunnarsson, is now officially a Ph.D. student in the group.<\/p>\n<p><strong>January 20th, 2022<br \/>\n<\/strong>We are excited that we will be getting a state-of-the-art GPC instrument later this year, and would like to thank the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rannis.is\/frettir\/uthlutun-styrkja-ur-innvidasjodi-fyrir-arid-2022\"> Icelandic Infrastructure fund<\/a> for their generous support in making this purchase possible.<\/p>\n<p><strong>November 19th, 2021<\/strong><br \/>\nToday, Ben was one of two recipients of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hi.is\/frettir\/hljota_kennsluvidurkenningu_von_2021\">2021 Teaching award<\/a> from the School of Engineering and Natural Sciences at the University of Iceland. I (Ben) would like to express my gratitude for this award, especially to the students that nominated me. It is truly wonderful to have the opportunity to work with all of you and I look forward to years to come and following your future successes. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p><strong>November 1st, 2021<br \/>\n<\/strong>Today, Ben was inducted as a founding member of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hi.is\/frettir\/kennsluakademia_opinberu_haskolanna_stofnud_11_fa_inngongu\">Teaching Academy of the Public Universities in Iceland<\/a>. An honor he is very thankful for and excited for the opportunities to promote and contribute to teaching in academia in Iceland.<\/p>\n<p><strong>October 5th, 2021<\/strong><br \/>\nWe would like to introduce you to Mike, the microwave reactor. Here we can see Siggi working on setting Mike up at his new home. We would like to thank the Icelandic Infrastructure fund again for their generous support in making this purchase possible (grant 210558) and are excited about the new possibilities this instrument will open up for our research. He will be joining Alvotech at the beginning of next month and we thank him for the collaboration these past few years and wish him all the best in his future endeavors!<\/p>\n<p><strong>July 2nd, 2021<br \/>\n<\/strong>We welcome Luis Arana, a Ph.D. student, to the research group and are excited to see his future success in his research.<\/p>\n<p><strong>June 30th, 2021<\/strong><br \/>\nThe webpage is finally getting a revamp and the last touches on the new laboratory are ready, with our new refrigerator being installed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>June 19th, 2021<\/strong><br \/>\nCongratulations to Hreinn Kristj\u00e1nsson who just graduated with a B.Sc. in chemistry. Hreinn did his undergraduate thesis in our group working on our polymer recycling project.<\/p>\n<p><strong>June 3rd, 2021<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Science Institute received funding from the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rannis.is\/frettir\/uthlutun-styrkja-ur-innvidasjodi-fyrir-arid-2021\"> Icelandic Infrastructure fund <\/a>for a microwave reactor which will be hosted by the Sveinbj\u00f6rnsson lab. We are looking forward to using this new instrument which will open up new research possibilities for us.<\/p>\n<p><strong>May 26th, 2021<\/strong><br \/>\nWe welcome Sigur\u00f0ur Gu\u00f0ni Gunnarsson back to the group. He has previously been in the group doing his undergraduate thesis and two summer research projects. He is joining the group again now as a master's student and will be working on our polymer architectures project and this summer he will also be involved in some chemical education research along with S\u00f3lr\u00fan, where they will be reviewing the organic chemistry lab curriculum.<\/p>\n<p><strong>May\u00a0 17th, 2021<\/strong><br \/>\nWe welcome S\u00f3lr\u00fan El\u00edn Freygar\u00f0sd\u00f3ttir back to the group. She was involved in a polymer recycling project last summer and this summer she will be working with us on some chemical education research involving the reviewing of the organic chemistry lab curriculum. Additionally, she will also be involved with our polymer architecture project.<\/p>\n<p><strong>January 15th,<\/strong> <strong>2021<\/strong><br \/>\nThe group received a 3 year, 56.25 million ISK grant from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rannis.is\/frettir\/uthlutun-ur-rannsoknasjodi-styrkarid-2021\"><em>Icelandic Research fund<\/em><\/a> (project 218163) for the project\u00a0<em>Brush polymers with cyclic and divalent side chains.\u00a0<\/em>We are really thankful for this grant and are excited about the research possibilities that it will open up for us.<\/p>\n<p><strong>January 13th, 2021<\/strong><br \/>\nWe welcome Hreinn Kristj\u00e1nsson to the group.
