I hold degrees from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in English and Literature and did my Ph.D on Icelandic-Canadian literature. My research interests include minority and island literatures, literary history, war and occupation literature, memory and trauma, as well as Icelandic as a second and heritage language and language and identity. I am currently working on <em>Icelandic. An Essential Grammar<\/em> (Routledge) as well as a book on Icelandic fiction of the Allied occupation.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">NEWS:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Icelandic Online 5<\/strong><\/em> has now become accesssible on mobile devices!<\/p>\n<p>This cultural addition to the free distance learning course <a href=\"http:\/\/icelandiconline.com\">Icelandic Online<\/a>, aimed at intermediate-advanced learners and authored by J\u00f3n Karl Helgason, Olga Holownia and myself, has been updated with the support of the UI School of Humanities and a grant from the \"Aldarafm\u00e6lissj\u00f3\u00f0ur\".<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Icelandic: An Essential Grammar<\/strong><\/em> is out!<\/p>\n<p>I am delighted to announce that my English guide to Icelandic grammar is finally out!
