My advisor was Prof. <a title=\"Jay Jasanoff\" href=\"https:\/\/linguistics.fas.harvard.edu\/people\/jay-jasanoff\" target=\"_blank\">Jay Jasanoff<\/a> of <a title=\"Harvard University Department of Linguistics\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fas.harvard.edu\/%7Elingdept\/\" target=\"_blank\">Harvard University<\/a>. My master\u2019s thesis, \u201cLanguage Contamination in Icelandic 17th-Century Copies of Old Icelandic Manuscripts\u201c (<strong>M\u00e1lbl\u00f6ndun \u00ed sautj\u00e1ndu aldar uppskriftum \u00edslenskra mi\u00f0aldahandrita<\/strong>, published by the University of Iceland Institute of Linguistics in 1999) is a study in the linguistic development from Old Icelandic to Modern Icelandic as well as an examination of scribal practice in 17th-century Iceland and an evaluation of 17th-century saga manuscripts as a linguistic source. My advisor was Prof. Stef\u00e1n Karlsson, director of the \u00c1rni Magn\u00fasson Institute in Iceland.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>1991<\/td>\n<td><strong>BA in Icelandic, <a title=\"University of Iceland\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hi.is\/en\/introduction\" target=\"_blank\">University of Iceland (H\u00e1sk\u00f3li \u00cdslands)<\/a>.<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><\/td>\n<td>In my undergraduate work I focussed on Icelandic historical linguistics and received my initial training in Germanic and Indo-European linguistics. My thesis, \u201cThe Nominal Inflections in the Book of Reykjah\u00f3lar\u201c (<strong>Beygingarkerfi nafnor\u00f0a \u00ed Reykjah\u00f3lab\u00f3k<\/strong>), is a survey of the nominal inflections reflected in the language of the Book of Reykjah\u00f3lar, an Icelandic 16th-century manuscript, with extensive comparison to other contemporary linguistic sources.
