Welcome to my website!
I have taught Icelandic as a second language since 1994, at the University of Manitoba (1994-99), UCL (1999-2011) and, since 2012, at the University of Iceland. I hold degrees from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in English and Literature and did my Ph.D on Icelandic-Canadian literature. My research interests include minority and island literatures, literary history, war and occupation literature, memory and trauma, as well as Icelandic as a second and heritage language and language and identity. I am currently working on Icelandic. An Essential Grammar (Routledge) as well as a book on Icelandic fiction of the Allied occupation.
