In this course students are introduced to some of the texts and debates on climate change from the field of humanities, philosophy and psychology. Climate change is more than the natural science - we already have the information we need to know that climate change is happening and why. What is harder to understand is how it affects us at an individual and a social level. Already, many are suffering from climate anxiety and don't know how to process the terrifying thought of global warming. To turn information into action we need to deal with our emotions and analyse the problem socially. In the course we will read texts from philosophy and social science and discuss how climate change will impact our societies and how it affects us as individuals today - hopefully with the goal of clarifying our thoughts and emotions to enable us to cope and act more constructively.
The course will be Mondays and Wednesdays from 13.20 to 14.50, starting on June 2, ending July 14th 2021.
The course is available for both graduate and undergraduate students as well as for people who are not registered as students.
