My speciality is in innovation and entrepreneurial education. I head the Centre for Research on Creativity in Education at the School of Education.

European prjojects I have been involved in:

Project coordinator in the Entrepreneurship 360 project. Launched i October 2019, fist official face to face meeting in January 2020 in Iceland. This project is about supporting actors in all sectors of the lifelong learning system to enhance the development, validation and recognition of the entrepreneurship key competence across lifelong learning.

Participant in he MakEY project: ‘Makerspaces in the early years: Enhancing digital literacy and creativity’ (MakEY) is a 30 month project funded by the EU H2020 Research and Innovation Staff Exchange (RISE) programme. It ran from January 2017 – June 2019. The project aims to further research and innovation in the area of young children’s digital literacy and creative design skills.

Project coordinator in the European project PEAT-EU (Practical Entrepreneurial Assessment Tool for Europe) about developing assessment methods in Entrepreneurship Education. The project launched in October 2016 and will finish in autumn 2018. The main outcomes of the project are available at http://entreassess.com

Participant the University of Iceland School of Education in the European project Find your inner inventor, lead by the TECHNICKA UNIVERZITA OSTRAVA in the Czheck Republic.

I represented the University of Iceland in the ADEPTT project - ended in October 2013.

Research interests: Collective teacher efficacy, creativity in education, innovation and entrpreneurial education, supervision of masters projects, inclusive education and curriculum development.

Collaboration in research

  • MakEY ‘Makerspaces in the early years: Enhancing digital literacy and creativity’ (MakEY) is a 30 month project funded by EU H2020.
  • RASKA 2, collaborative research of a group of arts and crafts teachers on four school levels  2016-2018.
  • Research on the development of collaborative group supervison of master students with Karen Rut Gísladóttir and Hafdísi Guðjónsdóttir.
  • EmergeCTE (Emerging curriculum areas and colletive teacher efficacy). Research project in Icelandic schools, from autumn 2010-2016. Final reports finishing in 2018.
  • Collaborative supervision. I and my collegues Hafdís Guðjónsdóttir and Karen Rut Gísladóttir have been developing collaborative supervision of 18-20 master's students doing their final project. As a part of our practice we used self-study to better understand our progress and inspire our development as supervisors.
  • Research on the development of a course for teachers and teacher students in inclusive education with Hafdís Guðjónsdóttir and Karen Rut Gísladóttir.

  • RASKA 1, collaborative research of a group teachers in traditional subjects on four school levels focusing on creativity in teaching and learning  2013-2015
  • Leikum, lifum, lærum (Play, live, learn) with the research centre RannUng.
  • Research on the development of innovation and entrepreneurial education in the Fljótsdalshérað municipality with Rósa Gunnarsdóttir.
  • Research in innovation and entrepreneurial education in upper secondary schools in Iceland in collaboration with the Iceland Innovation Centre, The Ministry of Culture and Education and The Ministry of Industries and Innovation. Report in 2013.
  • Intentions and reality. Research on science and technology education in Iceland. Joined the research from autumn 2006.
  • ActionESD. [GETA]. Research on the development of education for sustainable development in Icelandic schools 2008–2010.
