This publication is to commemorate the centenary of Iceland's sovereignty by exploring the  idea of sovereignty in international and Icelandic context, and how it has been out in practice in Icelandic politics.  The book contains 10 essays by 13 authors, lawyers, historians and political scientists, who explore the idea from different academic fields. The editor of the book is Guðmundur Jónsson and the editorial committee consists of Guðmundur Hálfdanarson, Ragnhildur Helgadóttir og Þorsteinn Magnússon.
