Dr. Krishna K. Damodaran (a.k.a. D. Krishna Kumar joined the Department of Chemistry in 2013, where he is currently Professor of Inorganic Chemistry. He served as the Head of Chemistry from 2018 to 2022. He did his Master degree (2000) in Chemistry from the University of Kerala, India and PhD (2007) in X-ray structural analysis of hydrogen-bond based coordination networks from CSMCRI India under Bhavangar University, India.

After spending two years as a post-doctoral research associate at the University at Albany, SUNY, U.S., he moved to Imperial College London, U.K. (2009) as a Marie-Curie Fellow (IIF). In 2012, he joined Prof. Steed's group at Durham University, U.K., as a post-doctoral research associate before moving to Iceland.

Dr. Krishna's research contributions to date have been within the area of Inorganic and Supramolecular chemistry . The inorganic research wing is interested in developing coordination compounds such as organometallic complexes, coordination polymer and metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) using multifunctional ligands. The group is interested in evaluating the potential application of these materials in sorption studies, anion recognition, catalysis and as anticancer agents.

In supramolecular chemistry, his group is interested in designing new supramolecular gels and analyzing the structure-property correlation to develop gels as reaction and crystallization media, and evaluating their potential applications in catalysis, dye removal, water remediation, and sensors.

To date, these research works have resulted in a number of high-impact publications (3055 citations), and Krishna has an h–index of 31 (publons). For details

ISMSC 2023 – Reykjavik, Iceland

We are pleased to announce that the 17th International Symposium on Macrocyclic and Supramolecular Chemistry (ISMSC–2023) will be held in Reykjavik, Iceland on 25-29 June 2023. Iceland is an exotic country located midway between North America and mainland Europe and is known as the Land of Fire and Ice because of its volcanoes and glaciers. There are direct flights to Iceland from many cities in both Europe and North America.

The scientific program of ISMSC–2023 will feature a diverse mix of talks in the fields of macrocyclic and supramolecular chemistry, and we welcome contribution from related fields. Based on our previous conferences, we expect to gather about 400 participants from academia and industry worldwide. For more information, please visit the conference website ISMSC–2023
