Our breakout session at the Arctic Circle Assembly 2017 October 13-15 2017 in Reykjavik takes place Saturday 14.10.2017 17:30-19:00.
- 17:30-17:35 Helmut Neukirchen: Introduction (5 minutes)
- 17:35-17:52 Hans Christen Hansson (Stockholm University): Modeling the effect of air quality regulation on the Arctic climate. (15 minutes + 2 minutes discussion)
(Shows how European emission regulation of e.g. sulfur has affected the Arctic climate (published in Nature Geoscience. The climate effects in the Arctic is considerably larger than in Europe where the main forcing is detected. We have further elaborated this work looking at other regions and their effect on the Arctic and developed methods for estimating the effect of different abatement measures. ) - 17:52-18:09 Eyal Freud (Stockholm University): Pan Arctic study of aerosol properties and sources. (15 minutes + 2 minutes discussion)
(Comparing continuous observations of aerosol size distributions from 6 major sites around the pole, similarities, differences and sources. It gives an understanding of the major transport paths and how efficient the transport is into the Arctic from different major source areas.) Øyvind Seland (Norwegian Meteorological Institute): Half a degree additional warming, prognosis and projected impacts (HAPPI). (Results from simulation focusing on the differences between 1.5 degree warming and 2 degree warming.)Had to be cancelled due to extremely late notification of session acceptance. Instead, we have:

- 18:43-19:00 Guðfinna Aðalgeirsdóttir (Ass. Professor, University of Iceland): Interaction of the Greenland Ice Sheet with the climate system in warm scenarios as simulated in the coupled model system EC-Earth - PISM (Presents results from coupled model simulations for the period 1850-2300 for warming scenarios.) (15 minutes + 2 minutes discussion)
