Teaching

Since 2001 I have been teaching Ancient Greek and Philosophy at the University of Iceland and the Reykjavík Grammar School. Occasionally I have taught courses or parts of courses at Continuing Education (University of Iceland) and The Arts Academy (part of a course on Ancient Greek Theatre).

Philosophy
I have taught Introduction to Metaphysics (HSP416G) (three weeks on metaphysics in ancient philosophy), Introduction to Epistemology (HSP304G), Logic and Critical Thinking, a Seminar on the A Priori and an introductory course on Ancient Philosophy (HSP104G)

Ancient Greek
I have taught first year courses on Ancient Greek (Ancient Greek I and Ancient Greek II), various courses on ancient culture and ideas as well as a number of Greek reading courses (all texts read in the original Greek), such as Greek Historical Writing, Hesiod, Herodotus, Greek Lyric Poetry, Greek Tragic Theatre, Greek Oratory and Greek Prose Authors of the 5th and 4th Centuries BC.

Classical Studies
A course on Ancient Greek Culture and Ideas for 4th year students with emphasis on the development of Greek Science and Philosophy. We read selections of texts in Icelandic or English translations from the Presocratics, Hippocrates, Herodotus, Thucydides and the Sophists as well as Aristophanes' Clouds and the Apology, Crito and Pheado of Plato.
